Our
Story

The Stockport Food Partnership started in August 2022. It began in the Stockport Council Public Health team to look at the Stockport food system and how we improve this.

  • In 2013 there was a similar Food Partnership, called ‘Feeding Stockport’

  • In 2015, a company called ‘Food Sync’ looked at how Stockport could tackle obesity through improving the food system. This framework looked at the whole food system and we used this in the updated Food Partnership.

This previous work helped us build from strong foundations. With support from Sustainable Food Places we looked at the whole food system rather than problems (i.e. food insecurity, lack of access to healthy food, obesity and food waste). We wanted to look at what was great about our food system, and how we could build on the good work which was already going on.
