Stockport Food
Partnership Projects
The Stockport Food Partnership will be collaborative, supported by leaders and enablers across the Stockport food system. It will build on and seek to scale up successful existing projects. The work will be informed by learning, insight and evidence which will produce work which is ambitious and innovative. We will be clear in our communications and ensure that our work is inclusive of all.
Project Areas
These are the topics the Stockport Food Partnership have been focusing on between 2024 - 2026. If you would like an update or get involved with any projects, please contact us.

Food and
Healthy Weight
We are working with the Stockport Council Public Health team to focus on reducing proliferation of hot food takeaways, reducing junk food advertising and linking with Food Active | Tackling the growing obesity crisis.

Community Food Education
We met with community partners who deliver food education courses to discuss what could be improved.
We then worked with a student from the University of Manchester to develop some research on what elements make a successful food education programme. If you are interested in seeing the research, please contact us.

Growing the Partnership
We would like to continue to grow as Good Food Stockport but this is run on a voluntary basis with a small amount of non-recurrent funding.
We are working with all 10 local authorities in Greater Manchester to learn from each other and shape policy where possible as part of the GM Food Board.

Food Insecurity
Stockport has lots of community organisations, working to provide food and essentials to those who need it. They are the Stockport Food Network and operate on a WhatsApp group to share surplus and information. For more info on the emergency offer > Help getting food - Stockport Council

Community Food Growing
Did you know Stockport has lots of community growing spaces and orchards? We would like to do more mapping of the orchards and caring for these better. We started with Hollywood Park, Edgeley.
